Heat-Press Laminating Machines
Heat-press equipment uses heated rollers or plates together with pressure. It is suitable when the material contains a heat-activated layer or when controlled thermal compression can create the required bond.
Temperature uniformity is essential. Too little heat may cause weak bonding, while excessive heat may shrink, harden or deform sensitive substrates. Dwell time and roller pressure also affect the final appearance.
Adhesive-coating laminating machines
Adhesive lamination applies a controlled amount of bonding agent before two or more webs meet at the laminating unit. Hot-melt systems, spray systems and other coating methods can be selected according to material compatibility and end-use requirements.
This method is useful for combining dissimilar substrates that cannot be bonded directly by heat or ultrasonic energy. However, the buyer must consider coating weight, adhesive temperature, open time, odor, cleaning and operating cost.
Extrusion-Coating Lamination Machines
Extrusion coating melts a polymer and applies it directly as a thin functional layer or bonding medium. It can add moisture resistance, barrier performance, sealing properties or structural strength to paper, film and nonwoven composites.

How Should a Factory Choose Between Them?
Begin with the finished material, not the machine name. Determine whether the layers need structural bonding, embossing, waterproofing, breathability, softness, barrier performance or printability. Then test how the material reacts to ultrasonic energy, heat and adhesive.
Working width is another major distinction. A sanitary-material converter producing 600 mm finished rolls has different requirements from a technical-material producer processing webs over two metres wide. Unwinding diameter, roll weight and planned shift length also influence the frame, drive and roll-changing arrangement.
